The Asus Zenfone 8 was one of the only compact Android flagships you could buy last year. And Asus is keeping up the tradition with the upcoming Asus Zenfone 9 (or Asus 9z in India).
We now have the full details of the phone making the rounds on the internet, thanks to the leaked official Asus promo video.
The first thing you’ll notice about the phone would be the impressive new design language that Asus is aiming for. It looks like nothing else on the market these days, with its bold colors and massive dual camera array.
Speaking of cameras, it carries the main camera they used on the just-released Rog Phone 6, the 50MP Sony IMX766. But it does come with six-axis gimbal stabilization that we’ve seen from the likes of Vivo X60 Pro Plus and Vivo X70 Pro Plus.
The phone will come with a 5.9-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, with a punch-hole on the side.
The device will be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and will have a 4,300mAh battery.
We can see from the rest of the video that the phone will come with dual stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and there’s a headphone jack on top. And there is also IP68 water and dust resistance.
We still haven’t received official word from Asus about this phone. But as the product video has been leaked in full, it may be sooner or later that we’ll see Asus talking more about the device.
Do compact phones really have takers?
There aren’t many compact phones available on the Android side other than the Asus Zenfone 8 and Sony Xperia 5 III. And even with iPhones, there have been reports of low sales of iPhone mini models.
Then there’s Asus, which brings yet another compact flagship phone without too many compromises. Will he be able to turn his fortune in the smartphone market? I really don’t. Add that to the fact that they keep the prices of phones high these days, like the Rog Phone 6, ensures we won’t see too many people flaunting the Asus Zenfone 9 or Asus 9z.
